May Updates

Shadram a posted May 1, 18  -  darkwind guildnewsletter

IT'S MAY, DARKWIND! Hard to believe a third of 2018 has already passed us by. So with only a few months until pre-patch & the new expansion, we just wanted to fill you guys in on what Darkwind is working on, through to the launch of BfA and onward.

Bakey's been testing out some new features that we're looking to roll out for our DARKWIND DISCORD UPDATES. We'll be creating new social channels which will allow more opportunities for our community to interact, in addition to channels to discuss other games we may be playing as Legion is wrapping up. If you haven't gotten used to Discord, it's a great communication tool to stay in touch with our gaming community. Pick up the Discord app on your phone, hop in a voice channel while gaming, make a new friend! While you're at it, fill out Growlie's "Get to Know Your Guildie" survey: https://goo.gl/forms/erkn1OhIojZmUXgO2.

Bloodshox & Waldhaar are still leading PROGRESSION & SUNDAY RAIDS, respectively. The end of an expansion is a great time to figure out which characters you want to main or alt in BfA. Sunday Raid is a great place to gear and learn your class, and Progression Raid will help you refine your gameplay. In addition, Liarawolf continues to host MYTHIC+ NIGHTS every Wednesday.

Quimby's been providing regular opportunities for fun and quirky EVENTS, including but not limited to  transmog/pet/achievement runs that bring us through often overlooked & obscure content. She does a great job of posting on Discord & Facebook what and when these events are, so check regularly for what these events are. Darkwind will be hosting a HIDE & SEEK shortly, and a COMMUNITY OUTREACH WEEK during pre-patch.

Ticket sale dates for BLIZZCON 2018 have been announced. If you want to challenge RNGesus in trying to buy tickets, make sure you are free a few minutes before 7pm PDT/10pm EDT Wed, May 9 and/or 10am PDT/1pm EDT on Sat, May 12. If you're interested in meeting up in Anaheim during BlizzCon weekend, keep an eye out for details in the near future.

If you need a great guide on things to work on prior to pre-patch: http://www.wowhead.com/what-to-do-before-battle-for-azeroth is a great place to browse. Also, don't hesitate to drop some feedback for the leadership with ideas/suggestions/comments in our Feedback Form found in the #welcome channel on Discord.

I'd like to offer a big THANK YOU to the leadership who work behind the scenes to keep the guild running consistently and successfully through Legion. The amount of preparation it takes Aredawg to DM and write 2 DnD campaigns, Malfrost keeping our vault stocked all expansion and bringing our coffers into BfA with several million gold, Karensa managing stress levels and keeping the peace. It's often a thankless unpaid job, and it takes a special kind of person to remain so committed to providing for our community.  Make sure to take some time to show some appreciation to an officer for what they do for Darkwind.

Here's to the last few months of Legion, and looking forward to BATTLE FOR AZEROTH!

DW Officers

Darkwind 2018

The new year brings around more things for our guildmates to participate in. One of the benefits of being in a guild is to be able to tackle some aspects of the game with other people. More casual in nature, Darkwind will host them, and if you are free and want to come along, come and go as you please. It will take some time to roll these events out on a regular basis, so pardon the dust as we settle into the changes. These events include, but are not limited to:

  • TIMEWALKING EVENTS (Transmog runs, Timewalking dungeon nights, Timewalking raids)
  • LEGACY NIGHTS (Older Legion raids for quest and transmog acquisition)

Growlie will be reviving our GET TO KNOW YOUR GUILDIES, an interview-styled spotlight on members--new and old--to give our guildies more information on our Darkwind population. From these posts, you may learn some interesting facts about the people you see online.

Having a hard time finding others to run MYTHIC+ DUNGEONS? Liarawolf is here to help. Make sure to communicate with him, and he will do his best to coordinate with others, to allow for successful attempts at harder dungeon content.

Much of our direction moving forward has been solidified by the responses we obtained from our guild survey in October, so a big thank you goes out to everyone that took the time to answer our questions. To continue to provide an avenue for feedback, we will pin a FEEDBACK FORM on our Discord server, for members to leave thoughts, ideas, and responses to what Darkwind does well, and what Darkwind can improve upon.

Darkwind is always looking for people to help out with things around the guild, so if you are interested in hosting a trivia night, heading up some transmog/timewalking runs, or flesh out a current deficit, please let Shadram know! Lastly, if you ever have any questions about any of our existing events, the revamped #welcome channel on Discord has links for who to contact.

HERE'S TO 2018!

Come Party with Us!

Shadram a posted Feb 19, 16  -  darkwind guildevents

When February rolls around, some think of long weekends in commemoration of our nation's presidents, some try to find that perfect gift/treat/date idea for a significant other, others congregate donning colors of their favored football team to win the Superbowl, while some may even scratch their heads in bewilderment at the importance of furry little groundhogs gifting us with a few more weeks of winter. For Darkwind, February means another year of celebration in being a guild.

Seven years after its inception, Darkwind still finds its name amongst one of the largest and most active guilds on Wyrmrest Accord. Let's celebrate that! This Sunday, February 21, at 7pm server, come join us in celebrating 7 years together. Leadership has been hard at work acquiring mount and rare pet prizes for the festivities, and there are unique games planned that our members have yet to experience! Door and cash prizes are also expected. Come dressed in a transmog that you feel represents Darkwind best!

Happy Anniversary, Darkwind members! Hope to see you there.

Darkwind Celebrates!

Merry Winter's Veil

Shadram a posted Dec 17, 15  -  darkwind guildeventsholidays

Thanks to all who attended Darkwind's Winter's Veil Party.

Congrats to Fricaya for winning the race to the top of Mount Neverest. And congrats to one ugly looking dwarf (yours truly, Shad) for winning the ugly transmog contest, winning the reins of a Crimson Deathcharger! And for all of the participants of our Secret Santa, thanks for going out of your way to get your person something special. Public props to Bakey and Katastros for throwing a good party!

Hope you all enjoy your holidays! Stay safe, warm, and surrounded by loved ones.
